The first qualifying session of the 2025 F1 season is almost upon us, but who will claim pole position for the Australian Grand Prix?

McLaren are the bookies favourite going into the new campaign to seal both titles, with many in the paddock expecting that the Woking-based team will be difficult to beat.

However, it was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who topped the timesheets on the opening day in Melbourne, suggesting that the Scuderia could challenge for pole.

As for Red Bull, its motorsport advisor Helmut Marko ruled the team out of pole position contention following a difficult start to the weekend.

Mercedes also had an unusual start to the first round of the season, with the Brackley-based outfit having struggled on the soft compound, raising concerns over its potential qualifying performance.

The first qualifying session of the year promises to be a thriller!
