Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher are to team up to represent Team Germany in the Race of Champions in Sydney.
Vettel, who retired from F1 in 2022, and Schumacher, who left F1 at the same time, are again forming Team Germany – a role a young Vettel once did with Schumacher’s father, Michael.
They previously teamed up in 2019, but were unable to recapture the glory of 2007-2012 when he and Michael Schumacher won the Nations Cup.
Schumacher is still harbouring hopes of an F1 return, as he competes in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine.
Elsewhere, two of Lewis Hamilton’s former team-mates are joining forces to make up Team Finland.
Heikki Kovalainen, who recovered from open heart surgery after a health scare, will team up with new Mercedes F1 reserve driver Valtteri Bottas at the March 7-8 event in Sydney, the week before the F1 season starts down the coast in Melbourne.
Both drivers were team-mates to Hamilton as he won world championships, with Kovalainen taking one win, at the 2008 Hungarian GP, whilst Bottas scooped 10 in his five-year stint alongside Hamilton between 2017-2021.
Meanwhile, 13-time grand prix winner-turned-TV-pundit David Coulthard is taking part, along with world rally greats Sebastien Loeb and Petter Solberg, along with 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.
