Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri will face the Japanese Grand Prix stewards after final practice for an alleged failure to follow to the race director’s instructions at Suzuka.
Both drivers are under investigation for not adhering to race director Rui Marques’ pre-event notes regarding usage of the fast lane in the pit lane.
It is the normal running lane for cars, leading to Marques instructing drivers to blend into the lane when exiting their garages “at the earliest opportunity.”
However, Red Bull’s four-time F1 champion Verstappen and McLaren driver Piastri did not appear to do this during FP3.
Following similar incidents for Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll in his Aston Martin during FP2 on Friday, both drivers and teams were handed warnings.
