The teenage son of 13-time Formula 1 race winner David Coulthard will make his car racing debut in GB4 this year with Douglas Motorsport.

Dayton Coulthard, 16, first began karting in 2019 and has contested several different categories, including winning the WM plate at Whilton Mill last year.

He has already begun testing the new-for-2025 GB4 car (which is based upon the previous GB3 challenger) and has joined Douglas as the former GB3 squad makes its return to competition having not fielded any drivers last year.

“I’m looking forward to working with Douglas Motorsport for the 2025 GB4 season,” said Coulthard.

“Moving into cars means I’ll have plenty to learn and I believe that the team can definitely help with my development.”

Douglas team boss Wayne Douglas added: “We’re extremely excited to be working with Dayton as he prepares for his first races in single-seaters.

“He’s shown lots of promise so far with good progression, and we look forward to working with him to develop that talent as the season progresses.

“The jump from karting to single-seaters is a big one, but one that Dayton is ready for, and we’re hopeful of ever stronger results as he gains further experience.”

Coulthard becomes the second son of a 1990s McLaren racer to join the GB4 grid for 2025, with Fortec Motorsport recently announcing Luca Magnussen, the younger son of Stewart driver Jan and half-brother of Kevin, as part of its line-up.
