Yuki Tsunoda has set high expectations for himself on his official Red Bull Racing debut. He is expecting to do better than those who came before him, especially at his home race.
Tsunoda has been given the opportunity to step away from Racing Bulls and into Red Bull Racing. After 89 race starts, he will officially be Max Verstappen’s teammate. However, he has a lot to prove as the second seat at Red Bull has stayed in a constant rotation of drivers.
Regarding his performance, the Japanese driver is ready for his home race and is confiedent about what he can do.
Tsunoda wants to beat his predecessors
“I have confidence. I’m not saying I have the confidence that I can perform straight away like Max, but I have confidence that I can do something different – hopefully – compared to other drivers that will be in the car.”
Tsunoda said earlier in the week that he wants people to put pressure on him so that he can prove himself with his performance.
“If I didn’t have confidence, I wouldn’t be wearing this. I would have stayed in Racing Bulls. Racing Bulls already have such a good car, and I understand how they extract performance in every race so far but because I wanted to have a new challenge.”
He concluded, “I have good confidence to challenge myself, so that’s why I’m wearing this and hitting the track with a different livery.”
