The Sharks have reportedly fended off competition from overseas to secure the services of a key member in the Lions backline from next season.
According to Rapport, Springbok winger Edwill van der Merwe has decided to put pen to paper on a deal with the Durban outfit.

The 28-year-old was reportedly a target for Premiership club Sale Sharks, but the Shark Tank emerged as his preferred destination.
Van der Merwe will strengthen a Bok-laden backline that includes Makazole Mapimpi, Lukhanyo Am, Andre Esterhuizen, Grant Williams and Jaden and Jaden Hendrikse.
Van der Merwe left the Stormers for Johannesburg in 2021, where he thrived under Lions head coach Ivan van Rooyen, and one-Test flyer’s pace and finishing ability has made him one of the most dangerous wings in the Republic.
