Toyota Cheetahs scrum-half Ruben de Haas will play Major League Rugby for Nola Gold in New Orleans, America.
From 1 February until the end of June 2025, Ruben is on a five-month loan deal before he returns to the Free State. In this period, he will be eligible for selection for the national side, the USA Eagles.
“The Toyota Cheetahs are fortunate to have a talented scrumhalf like Ruben de Haas in our team,” said Frans Steyn, Director of Rugby for the Toyota Cheetahs. “Having represented the USA Eagles at the Rugby World Cup and other high-class games, Ruben brings invaluable international experience.”
“It allows Ruben to grow further as a player and benefits the Toyota Cheetahs by ensuring he remains at the peak of his game. His experience will be valuable as we take on some of Europe’s strongest teams in the EPCR Challenge Cup and compete in the highly esteemed Carling Currie Cup.”
The Toyota Cheetahs are travelling to Europe to take on Zebre Parma on Sunday, 12 January, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam, followed by an encounter against Lyon in France on 18 January 2025.
