Jos Verstappen has provided a response to Zak Brown’s startling prediction regarding Max Verstappen’s future in F1.

The McLaren team boss has boosted his team’s security in the driver market across the last year with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri penning long-term deals with the Woking-based squad.

However, much intrigue has surrounded four-time champion Verstappen who has consistently been linked with a Red Bull exit across the last 12 months.

Mercedes CEO and team principal Toto Wolff publicly pursued Verstappen’s signature last year as he sought a replacement for Ferrari-bound Lewis Hamilton.

Aston Martin has also been noted as a potential destination after Adrian Newey, the technical mastermind behind all of Verstappen’s race-winning cars, started a new role at the Silverstone-based squad.

Earlier this week, Brown made the astonishing prediction that Verstappen will leave Red Bull at the end of the year and sign with Mercedes.

Jos Verstappen, replied to a post on social media that surrounded Brown’s quote, stating: “He [is] only is trying to steer shit.”

Mercedes currently fields George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli, however, neither has a contract in place for 2026 as of yet.

Aston Martin has repeatedly underlined it has commitments in place with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll for next year and beyond.
