Wales head coach Warren Gatland has called up prop Ben Warren while quietly axing a member of his support staff on the eve of the Six Nations.

Warren joins the squad following an impressive season for Ospreys, where he has featured in 11 matches across all competitions. A former Wales U20s standout with 15 caps, the 24-year-old tighthead’s elevation to the senior squad highlights Gatland’s focus on bolstering his forward pack.

Meanwhile, Alex King has been removed from the coaching staff after a winless 2024 campaign prompted a review of the national team’s performance.

It is understood that Rob Howley, Gatland’s second-in-command during his first tenure, has assumed the attack coach role.
“Head coach Warren Gatland’s coaching team has been finalised for the 2025 Six Nations,” reads a statement from the Welsh Rugby Union.

“Adam Jones joins as a scrum consultant on secondment from Premiership club Harlequins. Rob Howley will take on the role of attack coach, while Alex King will not be involved with the coaching team for the championship.”
