F1 has unveiled a behind-the-scenes documentary Future Five, charting the rise of the wave of rookie drivers joining the grid.
Grand prix racing has undergone a massive change over the 2024-2025 winter, with established runners such as Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen and Daniel Ricciardo all losing full-time seats, with rookie drivers being in fashion.
Of the five featured in the film, three, including F2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber), F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls) and Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes replacement Kimi Antonelli have yet to start a grand prix.
The other two, Oliver Bearman at Haas and Jack Doohan at Alpine have three and one start, respectively to their names.
Liam Lawson is also starting his first full-time season alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull but is not featured.
The class of 2025 is as many rookies on an F1 grid since 2010 when six started the new campaign.
The 50-minute film F1 has released charts the journey of the drivers through the junior ranks, to landing their F1 seats, with interviews with the likes of F2 and F3 boss Bruno Michel.
“I’m incredibly proud to see the progression of the 2025 Formula 1 rookies from our F3 and F2 championships, where they have been prepared for the highest level of motorsport,” said Michel.
“They have all fought exceptionally hard for their positions on the F1 grid, and it is a testament to their commitment, to the level of preparation provided by our championships and to the support of the F2 and F3 teams, that they have reached the pinnacle of motorsport.
“I wish Gabriel, Isack, Oliver, Andrea, and Jack the very best for the future.”
