The Vodacom Bulls have reportedly received a significant transfer fee for Carlu Sadie, with Bordeaux-Begles buying the prop out of his new contract with the Pretoria outfit.

According to Rapport, Sadie had signed a three-year deal with the Bulls late last year and was due to arrive after the current season. However, the 27-year-old prop has opted to extend his stay with the French club.

The Bulls confirmed that Sadie, who has been sidelined for six months and felt it was best to continue his recovery in France, will no longer be joining them.

The transfer windfall is understood to soften the blow for the Bulls, who had planned to rely on Sadie when tighthead prop Wilco Louw is on Springbok duty.

The Herd still has front-row depth with Francois Klopper and Mornay Smith, with Rapport suggesting Smith will remain at Loftus despite previous overseas interest.
