WATCH as the hugely popular BOKS OFFICE crew discuss the hype surrounding the France scrumhalf Antoine Dupont.

Dupont marked his return to Six Nations duty in stunning style as he helped France to a 43-0 victory over Wales in Paris last weekend.

Dupont missed last year’s championship due to his sevens commitment.

His decision to join the France Sevens squad was accompanied by a lot of criticism.

However the all-rounder silenced his critics and steered France Sevens to gold in the Olympics in Paris, scoring a brace of tries in the Final.

In addition to his Olympic success Dupont last year won a French Top 14 and Champions Cup double with club Toulouse and guided France to an unbeaten November series.

And against Wales in Round One of the Six Nations, Dupont showcased the whole array of his playing abilities, from doughty defence to sniping attack, proving a thorn in the visitors’ side at any opportunity.

In the latest episode of Boks Office, host Hanyani Shimanga asked Springbok duo Schalk Burger and Jean De Villiers if the hype surrounding the star was justified.

“Yes,” the duo hit back in unison.

However, the pair explained the 28-year-old has not reached #GOAT status…yet.

“For us as South Africans, he has come here with Toulouse but the chances of him coming here in July with France is almost zero,” Burger said.

“They [France] don’t come to South Africa that often and when they do, they hardly ever bring their strongest squad.

“Same with him going to New Zealand, you need these players to travel, you can’t only be the King of Europe.

“You want them to travel like all the best players do.”

De Villiers added: “He is a phenomenal rugby player.

“But unfortunately you have to back that up with great performances all over the world, at home and away from home.”
