BMW made a perfect start to the 2025 Daytona 24 Hours at a beautifully sunny Daytona International Speedway.
In the top GTP class, Dries Vanthoor made a dream launch from pole position in the #24 BMW M Team RLL car.
The #24 car kept the lead from the start of the race and had built a four-second gap by the end of the first 10 minutes.
The #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing and #7 Porsche Penske remained in second and third, where both cars started.
In LMP2, it was a nightmare start for the #2 United Autosports car which started in third, as it was spun by Nick Boulle at the first corner.
The #52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports took the lead, ahead of the #99 AO Racing car which remarkably rose from sixth to second in the opening few minutes. The #22 United Autosports car which started on pole had dropped to third.
In GTD Pro, #9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini made an extraordinary start to take the lead after starting in fifth, ahead of the #48 BMW Paul Miller Racing car and the #64 Ford Multimatics Motorsport car which started on class pole.
And finally, in the GTD class, it was the #120 Wrights Motorsport Porsche which kept the lead from pole in the first 10 minutes, ahead of the #78 Forte Racing Lamborghini and the #45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini.
