NEWS: Matt Sherratt is already making changes to his Welsh squad ahead of their Six Nations Round Three clash against Ireland in Cardiff on February 22.
Earlier this week, Sherratt was appointed to lead the team in the final three matches of the 2025 Six Nations after Warren Gatland left his role as head coach by “mutual agreement” after a record run of 14 straight Test defeats.
On Thursday, the Welsh Rugby Union revealed that Gatland’s assistant Rob Howley has also left the coaching team.
“Rob Howley remains under contract with the WRU but will not be part of the Wales coaching team for the remaining three fixtures,” said WRU statement.

Meanwhile, Sherratt has added a few players to his squad.
Harlequins flyhalf Jarrod Evans, along with Gloucester flyhalf Gareth Anscombe and centre Max Llewellyn, have been called up.
They will assemble in camp with the squad on Monday, February 17, to prepare for the sold-out match against Ireland in Cardiff.
Ospreys centre Owen Watkin has been released from the squad following an ACL injury, sustained against France in the opening round of the championship, that requires surgery.
Saracens fullback Liam Williams has also been released following a knee injury sustained against France.
