South African rugby’s biggest rivalry will come alive on Saturday when the DHL Stormers take on the Vodacom Bulls in front of an anticipated sold-out crowd at DHL Stadium.

It is always an occasion to remember when these two teams go at it and this Saturday there is so much more happening than just a rugby game.

Gates open at 11h00 ahead of kick-off at 14h00, with a host of activations for the whole family to enjoy. There are several other events taking place in the stadium precinct on the day, so roads will be closed and there will be heavy traffic in the area.

Do not attempt to park near the stadium, but rather park remotely and make use of the MyCiTi shuttles which are free for all match ticket holders from the Civic Centre, CTICC and Thibault Square. The first shuttles will leave at 10h30, thereafter, a bus leaves every 20 minutes or when full. The last return bus leaves the Stadium bus station at 18h00.

There are two beer gardens with live music inside the stadium and the launch of The Wyn Yard, which is a full public bar offering a range of drinks including beer, wine and spirits which can be found near Fort Wynyard by walking down the grass embankment behind block 114. There will also be a Kiddies Zone for young fans and various sponsor activations. All of these attractions can only be accessed once you have entered the stadium.

There will also be an on-field Golden Ticket experience for a limited number of spectators after the match. Those who have Golden Tickets on their Ticketmaster app will need to get them scanned at stations around the stadium in exchange for a wristband which will allow them onto the field after the game via an access point behind block 110. No spectators (whether they have a Golden Ticket or not) will be let onto the field through field-level gates, so please ensure that you read the details below carefully to ensure an enjoyable experience.

A sell-out crowd is expected for this Vodacom United Rugby Championship encounter, so ensure that you get there early to enjoy everything else going on around the stadium.

– Gates at DHL Stadium open at 11h00, with kick-off at 14h00. Get there early.
– There will be two beer gardens inside the stadium that will both be open from 11h00 – with a Red Bull DJ at the beer garden behind block 121 and a Heart FM DJ at the beer garden behind block 131, along with food trucks and activations for fans inside the stadium. The Wyn Yard is a new public bar offering a range of drinks including beer, wine and spirits, with a live DJ and can be found by walking down the grass embankment behind block 114.
– There will be a Kiddies Zone behind block 112 with jumping castles, ball pits, slides, scooters and face painting.
– There will also be various sponsor activations around the stadium from 11h00 for the whole family to enjoy.
– There is a big crowd expected for this match, additional road closures due to other events and heavy traffic congestion expected in the area, so make sure you get there early, park remotely and use the MyCiti shuttles to make the most of what should be a great day out at DHL Stadium.

Post-match golden Ticket on-field experience

A limited number of spectators have been issued with Golden Tickets to gain access to the pitch after the match.

These Golden Tickets are NOT MATCH TICKETS and cannot be used to gain entry to the stadium.

Golden Tickets have been issued via the Ticketmaster app and must be scanned in exchange for wristband accreditation at the stadium once you have entered the venue.

Wristband collection will take place at four clearly-marked stations in front of the DHL Stadium branded areas in each quadrant (North, South, East and West). Golden Tickets on the Ticketmaster app will first be scanned by Ticketmaster staff with handheld scanners and then recipients will be handed their wristbands.

These stations will be open from 11h00 and will only close 15 minutes before the Golden Ticket post-match on-field activation ends. There will also be roaming activation staff with directional signage guiding supporters to the wristband collection stations and the access point post-match.

Please note that no spectators will be let onto the field through field-level gates and must all move through the access point behind block 110.

After the match, all those with Golden Ticket accreditation will move to the access point behind block 110. From there they will be directed down through a checkpoint where accreditation armbands will be checked before they walk down to ground level and the entry point onto the field.

Once on the field, Golden Ticket holders will be able to take in the atmosphere and engage with the DHL Stormers and Vodacom Bulls players, who will spend some time in a roped-off area signing autographs and taking selfies with fans. No food or drink will be allowed onto the pitch post-match.

Parking and free MyCiTi shuttles

Given the big crowd expected and multiple events in the stadium precinct, spectators are urged to park in the city centre and make use of the free MyCiTi bus shuttles which will run from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and CTICC bus stations. Simply show your match ticket on entry and get a free ride to the stadium.

The first shuttles will leave at 10h30, thereafter, a bus leaves every 20 minutes or when full. The last return bus leaves the Stadium bus station at 18h00.

There is dedicated paid parking available in the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) parking area for R150 which you can buy online from Ticketmaster or on arrival (card payments only).
