Fernandes on the fight’s key moment

“I know that he’s a warrior, but I was a little bit surprised that he could take it. I was a little surprised by how he kept moving forward and controlling the center of the octagon. I thought that the fight was going to play out a little bit more in the center, but he was able to back me up a little bit.”

Fernandes on Khamzat Chimaev, Ilia Topuria in Kutateladze’s corner

“He trains at a great team with champions, but I’m also at a great team with champions. I’m with Andre Pederneiras and Jose Aldo, Leo Santos … It creates a lot of hype around it, but the corners are not going in there to fight. But it does add to it.”

Fernandes on what he wants next

“I have a few names, but I’m still on my first UFC contract so I want to get more acclimated here and keep winning a little bit more. Maybe with one more win I’ll say a name.”
