Lewis Hamilton has spoken about realising his “dream” of racing for Ferrari on his first day at Maranello.
The seven-time F1 drivers’ champion has joined the Scuderia ahead of the 2025 season, having enjoyed the most successful partnership in the history of the series during his 12-year tenure at Mercedes.
The British driver will hope to add the elusive eighth drivers’ title to his record, as well as ending Ferrari’s longest-ever championship drought.
The Italian team has not won either the drivers’ or constructors’ crown since 2008, when it won the latter – also the first of Hamilton’s seven triumphs, when he was racing for McLaren.
To commemorate the career highlight, the 105-time grand prix winner posted a photo of himself alongside a Ferrari F40. He also shared some thoughts on the momentous occasion.
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days. I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today,” the 40-year-old wrote on Instagram.
“Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
