Hooker Jamie George’s return from injury has given England a boost for Saturday’s Six Nations clash against France.

George, who missed last week’s 27-22 defeat to Ireland in Dublin with a hamstring strain, has been added to head coach Steve Borthwick’s squad in the buildup to the round 2 match at Twickenham.

He will compete with Luke Cowan-Dickie and Theo Dan for a spot in the match-day 23. Cowan-Dickie started in the Irish capital and impressed before England lost momentum, while Dan made little impact off the bench.

George’s 97 caps and recent captaincy duties adds much-needed leadership and experience as England look to bounce back against Les Bleus.

Borthwick’s charges have now lost seven consecutive Tests against tier-one opposition and face a must-win scenario in London, where a loss would leave them in trouble heading into the tournament’s first break.
